Many still don't get it that russia is an empire (maybe the last one that survived two world's wars in the 20th century). The world considered the empire dead after the WWI, but it reincarnated in Soviet Union (imperalistic by its nature) and then in russian "federation". It's actually the empire whose people consider themselves the true and only winner over fascism, being fascistic itself. They believe they are the greatest and that the world wants to destroy them because it's jealous about their greatness. The catch is that sooooo many countries and world leaders consider them (rus) great, too. :) And are afraid of this empire's falling. (They same they were when Soviet Union collapsed).
